Trivia Night and Chili Bowl Event
Successful Start for Christmas In Romney
Christmas in Romney held its first Chili Bowl Trivia Night on Friday, October 27, 2023. This successful fundraising event was made possible in part by donors, sponsors, and attendees. Over sixty people were in attendance for the evening and enjoyed chili with lots of toppings, corn muffins, and desserts donated by local businesses. The host for the trivia night, Travis Delaplain, President of FNB Bank, led the group through several rounds of trivia and fun. The night ended with prizes awarded to the team with the highest score, lowest score, and most unique team name. Through generous donations from the community in attendance, Trivia Night surpassed its fundraising goal for the event. This money will go toward the purchase of decorations, lights, and supplies for the various activities planned throughout Romney this December.
The Chili Bowl was held in conjunction with the trivia night for Christmas in Romney as a way to raise money for food pantries throughout the county through a program called Empty Bowls. Empty Bowl is a grassroots movement by artists and craftspeople in cities and towns around the world to raise money for food-related charities that care for and feed the hungry in their communities. Several bowls, handcrafted by local artists Julie Cook and Barbara Adams, were sold and auctioned during the night to raise funds for the cause. This event will surely make a positive impact on the local food pantries and the hungry in the community.
Christmas in Romney would like to thank everyone who helped make this event such a success and for allowing us to continue to make our small town a special place to visit and enjoy during the holiday season.
